Culture: Play hard, work hard

Covering around eight square miles and home to 29,000 residents, Lafayette began as a small town, and its leaders are dedicated to maintaining the neighborly feel. South Public Road is lined with bustling locally owned shops and popular restaurants. A steady run of festivals includes the Quaker Oatmeal Festival, Peach Fest, Lafayette Brew Fest, Fall Fest, and Home for the Holidays.
Town improvements are ongoing. The historical hub, East Simpson Street, is undergoing revitalization, which includes mixed-use commercial and residential spaces. Bike and pedestrian travel is encouraged with a transportation map that shows the fastest, safest route to get across town. 
More than 20 miles of trails and 1,466 acres of open space enhance Lafayette’s historic small-town atmosphere. Trails provide connections between neighborhoods and businesses and link to neighboring communities.

 Lafayette is one of the more affordable areas in Boulder County. Couple affordability with its attractiveness to families, and you have a vibrant climate for real estate.

The city is home to a variety of single-family neighborhoods surrounded by parks and a public golf course. With its expansive Front Range views, the town also has a supply of luxury homes.
Many new residential developments enable buyers of newly built homes to find excellent move-in ready opportunities, as well as attractive options for land for their future home.
The city is committed to providing less expensive homes and plans to develop 500 smaller homes on the northwest corner of Emma and the 120th.
